Beans are hot, everyone knows it!

    Rancho Gordo’s basic beans recipe looked pretty good to me, so I gave it a try and am extremely pleased with the results.

    Instructions

    1. Check & rinse beans, then soak (if dry). I soaked for about 6-8 hours.
    2. In a large dutch oven, brown bacon on medium-high heat
    3. Once bacon is starting to get crisped up, add onion & garlic, simmer until onions are clear (5ish minutes)
    4. add beans with their soaking water, chicken bullion & then also add about 6 cups of water, crank the heat up to get a vigorous boil for 10 – 15 minutes.
    5. Reduce heat to a very gentle simmer, let simmer for 1-3 hours. Check bean consistency at your whim.
    6. Enjoy this easy AF & delicious soup!
